Know Your Customer, usually shortened to KYC, is the process we use to confirm who you are. It is a legal requirement for every casino licensed in Great Britain, and it protects you as much as it protects us.
Why the UK requires verification before play
Under UK Gambling Commission rules, we must verify a customer’s name, date of birth and address before they can deposit or play any game, including free-to-play versions. These checks:
- stop anyone under 18 from gambling;
- prevent fraud and identity theft;
- help stop money laundering;
- allow self-exclusion schemes such as GAMSTOP to work properly.
So when we ask for a document, it is not a sign that anything is wrong. It is simply the law.
What we check
At registration you give us your full name, date of birth and home address. We check these electronically against trusted UK data sources. For most players this is instant and no documents are needed.
If the electronic check cannot confirm everything, we ask for documents. We may also request:
- a selfie liveness check, to confirm the ID belongs to you;
- proof of payment method, to confirm that cards and e-wallets are in your name;
- source of funds information at higher deposit levels.
Accepted documents
| Document | Accepted examples | Tips |
|---|---|---|
| Photo ID | Passport, UK driving licence, national ID card | Must be in date; show all four corners and both sides of cards |
| Proof of address | Utility bill, bank statement, council tax bill | Dated within the last 3 months; name and address must match your account |
| Selfie (if requested) | Live photo taken in the upload flow | Good lighting, no hat or sunglasses, face fully in frame |
| Debit card proof | Photo of the front of your card | Cover the middle digits; keep the first 6 and last 4 visible, plus your name |
| E-wallet proof | Screenshot of your PayPal, Skrill or Neteller account | Must show your name and account email or ID |
| Source of funds | Payslips, bank statements, P60 | Recent documents showing regular income or savings |
We do not accept screenshots of documents shown on another screen, heavily edited images or photocopies of photocopies.

How long it takes
| Check | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Electronic check at sign-up | Instant |
| Document review | Usually within 24 hours, often minutes |
| Source of funds review | Depends on the documents provided; we keep you updated |
Verification is a one-off for most players. We may ask again if your details change, for example a new address, or when you reach higher deposit levels.
Common reasons documents are rejected
- Name mismatch: the name on the document differs from your account. If you have changed your name, include proof such as a marriage certificate.
- Blurred or cut-off edges: all four corners must be visible and the text readable.
- Expired ID: passports and licences must be in date.
- Old proof of address: bills and statements must be dated within 3 months.
- Wrong document type: mobile phone bills and envelopes are not proof of address.
- Card digits uncovered: please cover the middle digits for your own safety.
If a document is rejected, we email you the reason. Simply upload a new version through the same page.
Source of funds checks
As a licensed operator, we must make sure the money you play with is affordable and comes from a legitimate source. At higher deposit levels, we may ask for payslips, recent bank statements or a P60. This is a standard UK requirement and is also part of our duty of care. Until these checks are complete, deposit limits may apply to your account.

Frequently asked questions
How long does document verification take?
We usually review documents within 24 hours, and often within minutes. You will receive an email as soon as your account is verified or if we need anything else.
Why was my document rejected?
The most common reasons are a name that does not match your account, blurred or cut-off edges, and expired ID. Upload a clear, complete, in-date photo or scan to fix it.
Can I play while my verification is pending?
No. UK rules require age and identity checks before any deposit or play. Once verified, you can deposit and claim the welcome offer straight away.
